If I remember correctly, this whole thing was envisioned as a platform from which to play “Jesse’s Girl” which has somehow managed to not make the cut.
Thank you for this. Unlike you, these songs were at my prom. :p Each one is like a time capsule. I cried when you played EWTRTW and talked about cherishing the small moments. This song evokes in me my memories of the summers of 1985 and 1986 (the year I graduated). “I Melt With You” reminds me of the idealism I used to have about romance before all the callouses, pain, and years of disappointment. Head Over Heels reminds me of Susie Adamo, the first person I ever truly fell in love with. It’s funny when the Thompson Twins song came out, I’d never kissed a girl, never fallen in love, and I desperately wanted to be held and loved. There are parts of my teen years that I don’t miss. I don’t miss that sense of emptiness and confusion.
Fun stuff. Thanks for putting it together.
